Wanted to reach out regarding practice this week. 13 Blue and 14 Blue are scheduled for Tuesday from 5:45-7:45 and 13 Red and 14 Red are scheduled for Friday from 5:45-7:45. This Friday there is a special event in Ramsey that we want to encourage players to go to. The Tommy Strong Foundation (https://www.tommystrong.org) is having a charity baseball game at Finch Park, Field 2, in Ramsey NJ at 5:30pm. Here is a little information about Tommy Strong:
This is an exciting event held in honor of Tommy FitzPatrick, a courageous 6-year-old who lost his battle with brain cancer in 2019. The funds raised through the Tommy Strong Game are utilized to support the Tommy Strong Foundation’s mission to fight childhood cancer and support the children and families affected by the disease.
This will be the third year that Tommy’s friends and peers will gather on the baseball diamond at Finch Park in Ramsey, NJ to raise awareness for childhood cancer, honor their friend and classmate, and raise money for a worthy cause. Last year, this incredible group of 9-year-olds raised $10,000 to help fund childhood brain cancer research.
Tommy’s older brother, Jack, is a player for the Colonials on 13u Red. We want to make sure everybody who can make the game has the opportunity to do so. As a result we will be doing a longer, combined practice this Tuesday from 5:30p – 8:00p. We will be running a workout reminiscent of our March practices: A lot of defensive reps, on-field BP, situational work.
